Quarter Round:Quarter rounds, like most moldings, give your flooring that finished, clean overall appeal. The main use for a quarter round is to cover the expansion gap between the floor and the wall. A 1/2” gap is typically left as a “flex” space around the perimeter of the floor. While practical and necessary these gaps are not the most attractive pieces of a new home improvement project. Hence, quarter rounds are very common and can be found in most homes across the United States. Tip: make sure that the quarter round is nailed to the wall, not the floor. It covers an open gap that is there to make sure the floor can expand and contract if necessary.
